AHS Funding Options
Do you currently receive Alberta Health Services (AHS) home care? Are you unhappy with the level of care or consistency in services?
If so, you have the ability to use a different agency and still have that care funded through AHS, through a few different programs. These programs afford you the choice to control which caregivers are in your home.
AHS has created several financial initiatives to help you access the care you need. Some of these initiatives include the Destination Home Initiative, Self-Managed Care, and the Invoicing Model. We encourage you to ask your AHS Case Manager about the best options for you.
Self Managed Care Program
Information on the Self-Managed Care program can be found on the Alberta Health Services website.
The Invoicing Program
The Invoicing Program allows you to choose the caregiver and schedule that meets your needs without missing out on any funding from Alberta Health Services. Approved providers bill Blue Cross on your behalf for any approved hours so all you need to focus on is your loved one’s needs.
Destination Home
Destination Home is a program designed to move seniors out of hospital, and back home. If you are currently in hospital, speak to your AHS Discharge Coordinator about this program.
Care at Home is an AHS-approved provider, and works with our clients on the Invoicing program and Destination Home program, to keep you safe, in your own home.
