With the rapidly changing situation regarding COVID-19, we know that many of you may be concerned about options for Home Care for an aging loved one. Care at Home by Exquisicare continues to provide caregiving services and support in the community to allow our seniors to remain safe in their own homes. We are diligently hiring more staff and are prepared to meet the needs of your loved one. Whether they require personal nursing care or companionship and light housekeeping; the loving Care at Home caregivers can provide the care your loved one needs. We understand that that Alberta Health Services have reduced some of their community care services and we are here to help those in need of in-home care during this time.
Care at Home by Exquisicare is a locally owned Home Care Agency owned by a Registered Nurse and led by Licensed Practical Nurses. We provide loving and respectful care to our clients; guided by our Core Values of Love, Reverence, and Family.
We understand that you may have concerns about how we can keep your loved one safe; we have tight protocols in place for our caregivers. These include:
- We, at Care at Home, have a mandatory vaccine policy that states that all caregivers, management, administrative staff, and volunteers must provide proof of full vaccination.
- Reminders sent to staff to practice Universal precautions which includes the use of gloves and proper hand hygiene. They will wash and/or sanitize their hands prior to entering the home. And frequently throughout their shift.
- Our online portal for the caregiver’s schedule requires them to answer a series of “wellness” questions related to symptoms of COVID-19 prior to allowing them to clock in for their shift. If they have any COVID like symptoms (even very mild) they will not be permitted to sign in for their shift. Our Care Manager will find a replacement caregiver for that shift.
- All of our Caregivers must self isolate for a minimum of 10 days if they show any (even minor) cold or flu like symptoms.
- If your loved one’s regular caregiver was unable to work, please be reassured that we are well staffed and are confident that we could continue to provide the care needed for your loved one.
- If your loved one resides in a congregate living setting, we are still able to provide caregiving services (if the facility allows it). We are abiding by all government mandates with regards to visitors/caregivers in long term care and/or supportive living homes.
- We are also prepared to provide caregiving services to persons who are diagnosed with COVID-19 who are not hospitalized. We are well supplied with PPE and will ensure that our caregivers are well protected to provide the care needed. As nurses we know that these are vulnerable people who need care, and it is best for them to stay home.
We remain in contact with Alberta Health Services and we will continue to follow all of the mandates and protocols from AHS. The health of our clients, staff, and families is of the upmost importance.
